Field: An 84-player competitive field will be comprised of the top-ranking boys and girls in South Carolina. There will be a total of 12 boys golf teams competing. Each team will have 4 players playing individually, with 3 scores counting. Additionally, the committee will select 10 more individual spots for boys. The girl's field will include 26 individuals comprised of the top-ranked girls from South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia chosen by the committee.
Format: The inaugural invitational will be held at Long Cove Club. It is 36 holes of competitive golf over two days. Yardages for boys will be around 6500 yards. Yardages for girls will be around 5800 yards.
Prizes: Awards will go to the overall team champion, overall boys champion, and overall girls champion. All players will receive Heritage and Carolinas ranking points, as well as JGS ranking.

Eligibility: The tournament will follow the eligibility rules of the South Carolina Junior Golf Association. As such, golfers who have not reached their 19th birthday or started college by the end of the tournament are eligible. The Jim Ferree Junior is an invitational and all invitations are at the discretion of the committee.
Rules: USGA Rules of Golf govern play. Questions will be decided by the on-site Rules Committee whose decision will be final. Notice to Players and local rules will be posted at the host club and distributed at the starting tee(s). The tournament committee reserves the right to alter the conditions or schedules as stated, including alteration of the stipulated round(s) at any time during the championship in keeping with the requirements of the SCJGA and JGS. The competition is closed when the championship trophy has been presented.
